Getting your support in place - FAQs
What is my DSA Entitlement Letter?
Your DSA funder (Student Finance England or other student funding body) will write to you to set out what support they will pay for from the DSA. This is your DSA Entitlement letter, sometimes referred to as a DSA2. It will give details of the support and the supplier of the support that has been approved from the recommendations contained in your Needs Assessment Report. This might include: specialist equipment, non-medical helpers allowance (e.g. mentoring, tutoring, note taking, practical support and assistive technology training), travel and any general allowances.
The letter is sent in both hard and electronic formats to you as the student. Approved suppliers are not sent a copy of the letter. Further information about entitlement letters (including sample letters) and useful guidance about the DSA application process can be found at www.yourdsa.com.
What do I do if Equality Focus is not listed as being the approved supplier of my support?
If your entitlement letter does not list Equality Focus as the supplier of your support, you will need to contact your funding supplier and request a change of supplier. As DSAs are awarded to you as an individual, this change cannot be requested by either your supplier or your university or college.
If Student Finance England (SFE) is the funder of your DSAs you can email them at dsa_team@slc.co.uk. You should put 'Change of Supplier' in the email subject line and explain that you want to change the supplier of your support to Equality Focus Ltd in the main message.
Why do I need to register with Equality Focus if they are the named supplier of my support?
We need you to register with us so that we have current contact details for you and have information about your preferences and availability so we can match you with a support worker that best meets your needs.
Where can I get more information?
If you have any questions about the registration process or how your DSA support is organised by Equality Focus, please contact us on +44 (0)1923 517850, by emailing us at info@equalityfocus.co.uk or completing our contact form.
